The Chinese National Womens team had alot of tall girls on there team. The Dandenong Rangers did not have there full WNBL squad, and used girls from there seabl and d-league seabl team. The Chinese girls dominated in the rebounds with there tall girls. Many of the Dandenong girls from the seabl and d-league seabl teams performed exceptionally well in support roles to the WNBL girls. China outscored Dandenong with plenty of three pointers and finding holes in Dandenong defence. In the first quarter China scored 21 points to Dandenong 18 points. Second quarter China increased there lead to 48 points to Dandenong 32 points. In third quarter China increased there lead further to 69 points to Dandneong 48 points.
Forth quarter Chinese player Zhang Hanlan was ejected from the game with six fouls, with five minutes to remain. The final score was China 89 points to Dandneong 64 points. I was amazed on how many fouls the chinese players amased.

Dandenong Rangers today are back in the fold playing last years United States college basketball winners St Mary’s College Gaels. The game started earlier than Mondays game but had a very large crowd of around 1,000. Dandenong lost the game to St Mary’s 90 to 68 points. Last year Australian Patrick Mills was part of the winning team but has moved on now to the NBA (unfortunately Pat broke his foot, and could not play the NBA summer league. He was draft pick 55 out of 60. He was choosen by the Portland Trailblazers). Two other Australians are among the St Mary’s team Clint Steindl (No. 11) and Ben Allen (No 21). The St Mary’s team was not as large a Vanderbilts team, but certainly impressed. Dandenong had Mark Worthington and Luke Kendall had loan themselves to todays game as they did on Tuesday night at Kilsyth against Vanderbilt. Mark also played on manday night for the Rangers with fellow melbourne Tiger Chris Anstey. First quarter saw Dandenong and St Mary’s go toe to toe, with the end of the quarter one point difference in St Mary’s favour. 18 to 17 points. Rangers Mark Worthington and Luke Kendall both contributed six points each. Second quarter saw St Mary’s overtake Dandenong by eight points. Most of the point scoring for Dandenong was done by Luke Kendall (11 points). St Mary’s Mickey McConnell contributed nine points with Omar Samhan at eight points. Now St Mary’s took the lead at 47 to 38 points. Third quarter Dandenong became very reliant on Mark Worthington and Luke Kendall to keep the scores on the board, with Mark Worthington contributing nine points. St Mary’s scorers were Colin Shiverton 11 points and Ben Allen with eight points. Forth quarter Dandenong could not stem the tide in St Mary’s favour. Dandenong Mark Worthington with six points. St Mary’s Wayne Hunter eight points. Dandnoneg Mark Work Worthington and Luke Kendall both scored 21 points each. Both combined was over half of Dandenongs scores. St Mary’s on average scored six points above Dandenong each quarter. St Mary’s the more athletic team showed why they were last years NCAA division one winners.

Seems for the next few weeks Vanderbilt University is touring the country playing local Australian teams to see how we measure up. Australian A.J. Oglivy is playing with the Vanderbilt University Commodores and is rumoured to be the next Australian recruited into the NBA. The Dandenong Rangers (SEABL) are one of the teams to take on the Commodores in this friendly game. The Rangers had in addition to there team Melbourne Tigers Mark Worthington and Chris Anstey suited up to help out. Both teams played different styles of basketball. Vanderbilt style was three points, and not attack in the key and play very physical compared to how we play in Australian, while Dandenong played very much in the key, with defence. From the outset of quarter one the Commodores showed there dominance by scoring over double Dandenong. 31 (Vanderbilt, Jefrey Taylor 7 points, A.J. Ogilvy 6 points), to 14 (Dandenong Mark Worthington, Chris Antsey and Vince Inglima all 4 points). In the second quarter Rangers Mark Worthington (5 points) and Import Vince Inglima (6 points) help kept the scores on the board for Dandenong, but again Vanderbilt overran with 23 points to contain a comfortable lead to take home the game. In the third quarter of the game the Rangers woke up to Vanderbilts style of play and steemed the bleeding by great defence, outscored with 27 (Rangers) to 21 (Vanderbilt) points. Rangers Brett Hobba 5 points, Mark Worthington 7 points Vince inglima 6 points. Vanderbilt Jamine Beal 6 points and A.J. Ogilvy 5 points. In the fourth quarter Vanderbilt woke up to Dandenongs defensive style of play and changed there game to score within the key, but found it harder to score as Dandenong kept there defence up. Vanderbilt Jeffrey Taylor scored 13 points alone in this quarter, from the Rangers Brent Hobba impressed with 8 points and Matt Witherden with 9 points. In the end Vanderbilt on 107 to Dandenong 84, the Rangers lost the game at the end of the first half, as Vanderbilt made a large gap, Dandenong could not recover from.

This was a futile game for Ballarat D-League men. The Ballarat men held the game for the first quarter with 20 points to Kilsyths 24 points. In the second to fourth quarter (Kilsyth 55-86-113 to Ballarat 34-47-58), the Cobras over ran the Miners at such a alarming rate, that if there was a mercy rule (as in baseball) it should have be enacted at half time. Ballarat had no answer to the Cobras as in players, nor in defence. Kilsyth Glenn Potts was the highest scorer with 26 points while Michael Agnew at 11 points was Ballarat highest scorer.
